The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has found its Devourer of Worlds, as Marvel Studios has cast British actor Ralph Ineson as Galactus. The Hollywood Reporter reported this on 9th May 2024<\/a>, and the actor later confirmed the report on Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

The character was last seen on-screen in <\/span>Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007,<\/span> which<\/span> wasn’t received well due to how the character was portrayed. Marvel Studios is looking to give Marvel’s First Family a strong showing when the Fantastic Four film goes into production mid-summer 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n

Galactus is a cosmic entity who goes by the Devourer of Worlds and the World-Eater in Marvel Comics, made his comic debut in Fantastic Four #48<\/a>-50 in 1966. One of the Heralds of Galactus, the Silver Silver, had discovered an acceptable planet for Galactus to consume, Earth, which the Fantastic Four and their allies worked together to thwart his plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

The upcoming Fantastic Four film is reportedly set in the 1960s, the period in which this superhero ensembled had formed, and<\/span> <\/span>could take some inspiration from Galactus’ first comic appearance. Marvel Studios has cast its Silver Surfer with Ozark star Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal<\/a>, who was the romantic interest of the previous Silver Silver, Norrin Radd.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ineson, who’s currently working on Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, has featured in multiple film and television projects, including The First Omen, The Creator, The Witch, and Game of Thrones, over his 30 years in the industry. The actor has also received voice actor credits, including The Legend of Vox Machina, Diablo IV<\/a>, and most notably, as Cidolfus ‘Cid’ Telamon in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s not Ineson’s first brush with the MCU; he briefly appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy<\/a> as a Ravanger Pilot. The film has been given a release date of 25th July 2025<\/a>, and it also stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Paul Walter Hauser, and John Malkovich, who was recently cast.<\/span><\/p>\n
