With Counter-Strike<\/a> turning 25 years old recently, a certain actor might not be interested in Valve’s iconic FPS franchise, but there are millions of fans who can’t wait for new content. In the early hours of the morning on 25 June 2024, Valve unleashed a huge new update, but it wasn’t the first CS2 Operation DLC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Instead, Valve released an update entitled “The Real MVP” with in-game MVP panel changes, and most importantly, community maps joined the matchmaking pool for the first time!<\/p>\n

All CS2 Community Maps & Modes<\/h2>\n

As you can see from the image above, both Thera and Mills have made their way into CS2 in an official capacity. These maps are available in Deathmatch, Casual, and even Competitive Matchmaking.<\/p>\n

For those who don’t know, Thera was previously known as Santorini in CS:GO and was designed by one of the creators of the iconic Cache, Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling.<\/p>\n

Yes, the classic Pool Day map from 1.6 has been remade for CS2. It is available in Arms Race, and you definitely shouldn’t miss out!<\/p>\n

Lastly, we have Memento and Assembly, which have been added to Wingman. The flashbacks of the airplane should start rushing back soon, just hang on!<\/p>\n

All Changes & Features in CS2 Real MVP Update<\/h2>\n

Apart from the awesome community-made maps now having matchmaking in their respective modes and groups, Valve also updated the “all-new animated MVP panels” for Premier Mode. Further, there are adjustments to MVP rules and new MVP conditions. In Competitive,  per-map skill groups are now revealed after you earn two wins on a map instead of the previous ten wins. Lastly, Valve added new video setting recommendations.<\/p>\n

                  • Added a Settings Recommendation popup if your display’s refresh rate is set below its maximum at startup. Using your display’s highest refresh rate is generally recommended.<\/li>\n
                  • Added a Settings Recommendation popup if NVIDIA G-Sync support is detected but not enabled at startup. Using G-Sync is generally recommended if your system supports it.<\/li>\n
                  • Added a Settings Recommendation popup if NVIDIA G-Sync is enabled but not V-Sync and\/or NVIDIA Reflex. It is generally recommended to enable all three settings together when they are available. Note that applying these settings will limit your frame rate to your display’s refresh rate or slightly lower, which is usually the smoothest-looking and lowest input latency settings combination. See https:\/\/help.steampowered.com\/en\/faqs\/view\/418E-7A04-B0DA-9032<\/span> for technical details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
                  • Removed “Main Menu Background Scenery” and “Item Inspect Background Scenery” settings from the Video Settings page. These settings are still available on the Main Menu and in the Item Inspect screens respectively.<\/li>\n
                  • The “Refresh Rate” setting now shows your display’s current refresh rate in Windowed and Fullscreen Windowed modes.<\/li>\n
                  • Removed the “Laptop Power Savings” setting which has never actually been configurable in CS2.<\/li>\n
                  • Added a “Frame Pacing” section to the Advanced Video settings page.<\/li>\n
                  • Added an “NVIDIA G-Sync” row to the Frame Pacing section which tells you whether or not G-Sync is active with your current display settings. This row may be hidden if you’re using the Vulkan renderer or if you’re not using an NVIDIA graphics card.<\/li>\n
                  • Added “Maximum FPS In Game” and “Maximum FPS In Menus” sliders to the Frame Pacing section. These control the fps_max and fps_max_ui convars respectively.<\/li>\n
                  • Increased the default “Maximum FPS In Menus” setting from 120 FPS to 200 FPS.<\/li>\n
                  • The Advanced Video visual preview now uses the “In Game” maximum FPS instead of the “In Menus” maximum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

                    Some CS2 players might be quite disappointed that it isn’t the game’s first official Operation DLC pack, while others are enjoying the community maps in matchmaking.<\/p>\n
