Popular veteran YouTuber Boogie2988<\/a> (aka Boogie), who is best known for his comedic raging gamer <\/em>character “Francis,” has been accused of faking a cancer diagnosis. The scandal erupted after fellow content creator Destiny publicly questioned the authenticity of Boogie’s claims during the Lolcow Podcast<\/a> on Jul. 10, suggesting that the 49-year-old YouTuber was lying about his health.<\/p>\n

Boogie, whose real name is Steven Williams, first announced that he had been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer called polycythemia vera on Twitter<\/a> in November 2022. He claimed that the cancer was caused by a testosterone supplement he had been taking for the last “seven or eight” years. In a video<\/a> discussing the diagnosis, Boogie stated that if one had to get cancer, this was the one to get due to its slow-moving nature.<\/p>\n

Boogie has vehemently denied the accusations, but the controversy has already damaged his reputation. The troubled YouTube<\/a> star has also deactivated his social media accounts as the scandal continues to unfold. Noteworthy, no concrete evidence has been presented to prove or disprove these allegations.<\/p>\n
