Navigation is one of the central gameplay components in the survival co-op game Aloft<\/a>, allowing players to ascend to the skies using a Glider<\/a> or converting an island into a Skyship. They will discover a vast array of biomes, unique fauna and flora, and animal life across multiple islands and a few corrupted ones in need of rejuvenation, which identified them can be done using the Spyglass.<\/p>\n

The Spyglass is one of the key tools to help players navigate the world and is often paired with the Table Map and the Beacons; the latter two are unlocked from Knowledge Stones, but how can players get the Spyglass’ blueprint? This guide will steer players in the right direction as we explain how to get and craft the Spyglass and its best uses in Aloft.<\/p>\n

The Spyglass is one of the many in-game tools players can utilize to navigate the sky islands within the archipelago. According to its in-game description, once equipped with their hotbar, players can use this tool to see faraway or “objects in the distance,” which can help locate biomes, fauna, flora, and, most importantly, corrupted islands.<\/p>\n

This tool can be used with the Table Map, which can be crafted and placed on the player’s home island once they’ve found the blueprints from a Knowledge Stone or one in the open world. Before we get into how the Spyglass can be used in-game, players must first obtain the blueprint, which can be done at the Workbench Station<\/a>, and collect specific resources and crafting materials needed to craft it.<\/p>\n

They’ll need one Rope<\/a>, two pieces of Wood, and two Windstones; the latter are glowing rocks found in the open world, near and inside caves. Interact with the Workbench Station, access the resources, and place the exact resources into the hopper to learn the blueprint before crafting a Spyglass.<\/p>\n

Now that they have the Spyglass equipped with the hotbar from their Inventory, they can view, zoom in and out of their environments. As mentioned earlier, the Spyglass is mainly used with the Table Map, which players should learn how to use the map to track their exploration progress, displaying the islands they’ve restored and haven’t.<\/p>\n

When using the Spyglass, they’ll notice that the islands will have the icon “Emerald Isles,” indicating that the islands have a Beacon, which is visible on the Table Map. To use these Beacons, players must progress far enough to learn its blueprint from a Knowledge Stone before they can craft them. <\/p>\n

The Beacons serve as the game’s waypoints<\/a>, but with a few differences as they need some functionalities and features, for which the developers are working on improving the Table Map and Beacons to make the Spyglass more efficient to use. Another great piece of advice when using the Spyglass, which was discovered on the game’s Steam General Discussions page, is when it comes to navigating across the islands, use the storm at the center of the archipelago as their “North Star”<\/a> which should help if players get lost, can’t find their home island due to certain weather conditions or have yet to mark an island as their home base.<\/p>\n
