Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 mode<\/a> has been very well received among the game’s community – so well-received, in fact, that some killers have reported killer queues lasting over 30 minutes<\/a>. Despite its success, DBD’s 2v8 mode was limited to a pretty brief run of just two weeks until the event was extended today until 15 August at 11am ET<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This gives players a full extra week to enjoy the highly popular mode, as well as to complete the two tiers of the related Tome. In other words, if you haven’t gotten all of the 2v8 rewards yet – now’s your chance to hop into a lobby and wrap up those challenges to get your badge, banner, and charm.<\/p>\n

Developers describe this iteration of 2v8 mode as the “initial run,” suggesting that the mode is pretty likely to come back<\/a> some time in the future. It seems especially likely to come back due to the mode’s extreme popularity – in fact, it accounted for over 40% of all matches <\/strong>since its release even after removing the Bloodpoint incentive, according to developers. <\/p>\n

It’s great news to many players that the 2v8 mode is getting extended – so some are wondering if this means it’ll stick around for good. While this would definitely make many fans happy, it doesn’t seem like the mode is likely to become permanent<\/strong> for now due to the aforementioned issues with lengthy killer queues. <\/p>\n

They proposed adding more killers and making the experience more interesting for survivors as solutions.<\/p>\n

“We’ve also heard demands for 2v8 to stay permanently and while we love the enthusiasm, this is only the first iteration of which we expect more,” developers explained. “While Killer queues will always be a challenge in this mode, matchmaking wait times can be iteratively reduced through more Killer variety and a more compelling Survivor experience.”<\/p>\n

So, while it seems pretty likely that 2v8 will return in the future – and maybe even return permanently if things go well – it’s a good idea to complete the 2v8 Tome levels now, since there’s no telling whether those rewards or challenges will be back in the future.<\/p>\n

This isn’t the first time Dead by Daylight has extended a limited-time event game mode after fans requested it.
