Season 12 of Overwatch 2<\/a> had a rocky start. While many of us were thrilled about the arrival of Clash mode, two new maps, and the introduction of Juno, the new support hero, there was also a sense of disappointment. Some players felt disappointed <\/span>by the fact<\/span> that only Reaper received a Mythic skin, along with other rare skins for <\/span>more popular<\/span> characters, leaving others overlooked.<\/span><\/p>\n

Though it’s understandable to voice concerns to the developers, some players crossed a line, resorting to targeted harassment towards Blizzard’s team over their skin choices. In response, the Overwatch 2 community has rallied to defend the developers, hoping to de-escalate the situation and foster a more positive outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

As previously mentioned, fans were quite puzzled by the fact that Season 12 introduced new skins, all themed around Egyptian mythology, and chose to give the Mythic skin to Reaper while reserving other rare skins for popular heroes like Mercy, D.Va, Doomfist, Ana, and others. Meanwhile, characters like Ramattra and Venture, who would have been perfect for the theme, were left without any new skins <\/a><\/span>at all<\/span>.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

In response to the outcry, Overwatch 2 Game Director Aaron Keller addressed the issue, revealing that Venture will be getting a new skin, but not until late 2024 or early 2025 <\/span>at the earliest<\/span>. This announcement seems to have been the final straw for many fans, who <\/span>began to express<\/span> their frustration more aggressively, directing their anger at the developers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Overwatch Mythic Producer <\/span>Cappugccino<\/span> responded to the situation on social media, stating, “It takes an entire squad to make a Mythic, and even though I’m incredibly proud of the work we did on Anubis Reaper, I won’t be posting the dev roster. I’ve seen targeted harassment at our team members who have already posted, and I won’t be encouraging more of that.”<\/span><\/p>\n
