Overwatch 2 features various currencies that players can earn through gameplay or purchase with real-world money. Competitive Points are one such currency, earned by playing Competitive matches. After some iterations, the system now awards these points as you play, and once the Competitive season ends, they convert into Legacy Competitive Points.

Initially, both types of Competitive Points allowed players to purchase weapon variants. However, with the arrival of Season 10, this changed—new weapon variants for the current Season became purchasable only with Competitive Points, while Legacy Points could only be used to buy weapon variants from previous seasons. This change has frustrated many players, who feel the system has become more of a burden than a rewarding feature.

For instance, one player complained about losing around 2,000 points that were converted into Legacy Points, which would have been enough to buy a new Jade weapon variant; now, they must start from scratch. Many others echoed this sentiment, with one user comparing their point counts: “It’s extra frustrating. I have 1.4K old points and 1.6K new.”
