Polish developer CD Projekt RED recently held their earnings report<\/a>, which the developer reflects on the first half of this year and the financial results over this period. The earnings report was shared online, and a recap video was uploaded to their YouTube channel which they’ve shared some updates on key projects in various production stages, one being the forthcoming game in the Witcher series.<\/p>\n

This project, which is currently codenamed “Polaris,”<\/a> is confirmed to be the next entry in the acclaimed RPG series, which the developer revealed that pre-production is nearing its conclusion. The developer also thanked fans for their support following the REDkit modding tool<\/a> release for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/a>, which is set to celebrate its tenth anniversary in 2025.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from the developer<\/a>, they’re “gearing up to begin the full-fledged production phase of project Polaris – the first installment in the new Witcher saga.” Joint CEO Michał Nowakowski added, “Work on Polaris is progressing – its development team is nearing a major milestone which will mark the end of the pre-production phase.”<\/p>\n

It’s unclear when Project Polaris will officially enter production; however, the development team is making good progress on the game, especially given that they’ve bulked up their team dedicated to working on Polaris. This was revealed in their earnings call back in March 2024<\/a>, where a slide detailed how many developers had been allocated to the forthcoming Witcher game, which a “big part” of the Cyberpunk team moved over after Phantom Liberty’s release.<\/p>\n

This was slightly updated, showing little change to the development team on Project Polaris; however, a large portion of the developers are still dedicated to the Witcher project. As always, no release date or estimated timeframe for Polaris has been hinted at as the studio gears up to enter full production on the project shortly.<\/p>\n
