Valve recently strongly opposed automation scripts and third-party apps<\/a>, such as Razer’s Snap Tap and Wooting’s SOCD, in competitive Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)<\/a> esports events, and tournament organizers such as BLAST and ESL followed<\/a>. The rule was already active at ESL Pro League Season 20.<\/span><\/p>\n

At ESL Pro League Season 20<\/a>‘s opening matchups in Group A, we saw HEROIC take on NIP in a best-of-three series. HEROIC won the first map, Ancient, with a score of 13-10, but then, the win was overturned swiftly by ESL, as per an announcement on Twitter (X)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To HEROIC’s credit, the team took the loss in stride and even joked that we’ll see the “first ever 3-0 in a BO3 incoming.” HEROIC did, however, go on to win Nuke 13-7 before NIP closed out the series with a 13-6 win on Vertigo. Yes, HEROIC would have gone on to face NAVI in the upper bracket of Group A at ESL Pro League Season 20 if not for the forced loss due to the use of Snap Tap.<\/p>\n

It turns out the player who used Snap Tap was Danish entry fragger René “TeSeS” Madsen, who posted an apology on X<\/a>, noting that he didn’t even realize it was active again and that it was not intentional in any way:<\/p>\n

HEROIC will now face Lynn Vision in the mid-bracket of Group A at ESL Pro League Season 20. Despite the loss against NIP, the squad did show an increased level of form, which is great news for their fans.<\/p>\n
