With the UI turned off, James will glance towards where he needs to go, as well as at items – much like in the original game. The iconic protagonist will even have unique animations and expressions for each wounded state, making him more expressive than ever before.<\/p>\n

While Bloober Team’s remake promises to stay largely true to the original when it comes to plot points, characters, and environments, developers have added some new, modern touches to the game. The ’90s filter is one great example of a feature added for modern audiences, along with new, upgraded models and visuals rendered in Unreal Engine 5. Though the features are technically new for the modern game, the ’90s filter and lack of a UI combined create an aesthetic experience that is highly reminiscent of the original Silent Hill 2. <\/p>\n

Some fans have pointed out that the addition of a ’90s filter is somewhat inaccurate – technically, the game was released in 2001, not the ’90s. Regardless of its name, the filter does create visuals that mimic the original game, as Bloober Team showcased in the short video trailer posted to X\/Twitter.<\/p>\n

Bloober Team and Konami’s highly-anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake is set to release on 8 October 2024,<\/strong> just in time for the Halloween season. In the meantime, fans of the Silent Hill franchise might want to check out Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition, a fan-made project adding enhancements and updates to the original game.
