This past week, developer Bad Ridge Games delayed their upcoming RPG life simulation game Mirthwood<\/a> from its scheduled release this September to 6th November 2024. The game, which will launch for PC via Steam, had a few of its planned post-launch content releases pushed back, including mod support<\/a>, its first DLC expansion, and Steam Deck verification.<\/p>\n

A few other core gameplay content, features, and modes are still slated to arrive in the game within the next few months; players have wondered if co-operative (co-op) play and multiplayer support are included. This guide answers all these questions and more regarding co-op play and multiplayer modes for Mirthwood.<\/p>\n

Will There Be Multiplayer Or Co-Op Modes At Launch For Mirthwood?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Bad Ridge Games recently announced the registration for the first Closed Beta weekend<\/a> for their “enchanting RPG life sim” Mirthwood. <\/span>The Closed Beta weekend, which takes place between 20th September and<\/strong> 23rd September 2024 exclusively on PC via Steam, <\/strong>as players have until 15th September 2024 at 10 pm PST and 1 am EST \/ 5 am UTC on 16th September 2024 to sign up to participate in the beta.<\/p>\n

The developer has ensured players that details on what content and features will be open to participants during the beta beforehand; players already know what’s coming to Mirthwood post-launch. There are plenty of new content, features, and balance changes arriving over the next few months, including support for multiplayer and co-op.<\/span><\/p>\n

At launch, Mirthwood won’t include functionality or support for multiplayer and co-op modes and features on 6th November 2024, and it’s yet to be determined if it will be a feature to explore in future Closed Beta weekends. According to a press release last month<\/a>, co-op multiplayer is launching in 2025, corroborating the recently updated Development Roadmap<\/a> indicating that co-op play is launching sometime in Q2 2025.<\/p>\n

Co-op play allows “players to join forces with friends and family to tackle challenges and build their dream world together,” thus providing them with unique “shared creative experiences in the medieval fantasy world.” In addition, the developer noted that co-op play will support local and online multiplayer modes for them to experience and “enjoy their Mirthwood adventures” with friends.<\/p>\n

As co-op and multiplayer modes and support are arriving sometime in 2025, the game will also be facilitating mod support, which means modders can develop packs to increase the capacity for co-op play to more than two players. For players wondering, mod support will also be coming soon to Mirthwood per the updated Development Roadmap and is likely to be shipped in the same update with co-op and multiplayer support.<\/p>\n
