Nintendo surely has a knack for surprise releases and announcements, and they recently made one that completely took us by surprise. The Japanese company revealed their latest peripherals (and no, it’s not a set of new Joy-Cons<\/a>), a new sound-orientated clock, Alarmo, accompanied by a trailer and an “Ask the Developer” post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The main selling point behind the Alarmo device, according to information outlined on its product page<\/a>, is to “make waking up fun,” and this is evident in the accompanying trailer that was released. As for when we can expect to see Alarmo hit retail outlets globally, as of writing, it’s been given a 2025 release, but Nintendo Switch Online members<\/a> in the United States and Canada<\/a> can secure their Alarmo online via the My Nintendo Store.<\/p>\n

So, how exactly does Alarmo work? According to its product page, users choose a title and scene and set an alarm time for which the device takes care of the rest. Depending on the time set for the alarm to go off, users will experience an immersive way of waking up each day from the presets chosen and “a game element” to help them “rise and shine.”<\/span><\/p>\n

They can use hand gestures to silence the alarm after waking up, and based on the presets selected, they may hear familiar sounds or music when interacting with the device. Regarding the presets that users can choose from, over 35 scenes inspired by popular Nintendo games, including Super Mario Odyssey<\/a> and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/a>, will be available by default, with additional content available to download via Wi-Fi from titles such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons<\/a> and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.<\/span><\/p>\n

To access the aforementioned content for Alarmo, users must link their Nintendo Account to the device and download them once they’ve become readily available. Other unique features included with Alarmo include a Steady Mode, which increases the volume and intensity of alarm sounds the longer we remain in bed (that’s if we don’t hit that snooze button).<\/p>\n

Speaking of snoozing, the Button Mode has also been added to the device for those, like ourselves, who prefer a traditional way of waking up each day by smacking that “snooze button.” Alarmo will also feature capabilities of tracking users’ sleeping patterns, similar to most sleep-tracking apps available, like Pokémon Sleep<\/a>, which are provided to them.<\/p>\n
