After years of waiting, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has revived the Budokai Tenkaichi series with the most expansive roster this series has ever seen. With more than 180 characters already available and DLC still to come, many players will want to find the quickest path to ensure they can play as everyone in Sparking Zero.

If you wanna get your selection ready for a friend who might come over to play in split screen or just want every possible option for your own battles, there are a few different ways to unlock every character in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. We’ll go over the details on how to unlock all Sparking Zero characters here including the fastest way for players who want a full roster as quickly as possible.

In order to unlock the entire Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster, you’re going to have to spend time in a few different game modes. Multiple characters can be unlocked in specific Episode Battles, and a few are also unlockable with Bonus Battles found in Custom Battle.

For players who have built up a good supply of Zeni for various reasons, almost every character in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero can be purchased with Zeni once you’ve reached a specific Player Level. Winning each of the offline tournaments in Sparking Zero for the first time will also unlock a character.

Here, we’ve separated out unlockable characters by method so that players can have a clear idea of where to focus for the majority of character unlocks. With a little work, you can unlock nearly every character without spending Zeni.

First up, each of the following Episode Battles will unlock a specific character. Some of these will require you to take an alternate path by defeating a battle within a time limit or making a specific choice, so it could take you a few tries to reach some of these battles.

Next, there are nine Bonus Battles found in the Custom Battle mode that unlock characters in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Some are simple one-on-one battles, but others stack the odds heavily and may take more attempts to win.

All six of the offline tournaments in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will unlock a new character the first time you win regardless of which CPU Level you’re playing against. Review each of the tournament’s rules carefully to make the most of each attempt. The Cell Games, for example, only recovers a small portion of your health between battles. You’ll want to be careful to avoid damage and be defensive as much as possible en route to the final clash with Cell, or you’ll be so low on health that defeating him becomes nearly impossible.

Five different characters on the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster are simply unlocked by using them 10 different times in any battle. For each of these, after completion you will trigger a mission and need to head to Zen-Oh’s Orders to claim the unlocked character.

Characters Unlocked in Episode Battle
