But this announcement wasn’t the only thing Sakurai had planned, as he revealed that he had received a game development proposal back in July 2021 and that it would be announced “sooner or later.”<\/p>\n There was very little else the developer had to reveal at this stage, but it’s been enough to get fans talking. “I’m sorry I can’t share more about this project,” Sakurai said in the video, “but assuming we’re able to get it made, it should be announced sooner or later.”<\/p>\n Masahiro Sakurai’s last game was Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which received its final DLC fighter, Kingdom Hearts’ Sora, in 2021. It’s currently unclear exactly what type of game Sakurai has a hand in, and whether or not it will be a Smash Bros. successor or something entirely different. <\/p>\n Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launched for the Nintendo Switch in 2018, and has since expanded its roster of characters to 89.
