The film is being led and produced by<strong> Roy Lee <\/strong>(<em>It, Barbarian, Late Night with the Devil and Strange Darling), <\/em>with screenplay by <strong>JT Petty, <\/strong>who is deeply involved in the Outlast games&#8217; stories.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When&nbsp;<em>Outlast&nbsp;<\/em>launched in 2012, it changed the landscape of horror gaming, setting a new standard for immersion in the genre,&rdquo; said Lee. &ldquo;Its deep, emergent lore has provided a perfect foundation for creating a film that delves into the psychological and physical horrors at the core of the franchise. I&rsquo;m excited to bring this unique world to life for both new viewers and the series&rsquo; dedicated fans.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>2012&#8217;s Outlast was followed by the release of the prequel DLC Outlast: Whistleblower in 2014, and the standalone sequel Outlast 2 in 2017. Most recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/outlast-trials\">The Outlast Trials,<\/a> a first-person, solo or multiplayer survival horror experience set during the Cold War era, launched earlier this year after a little under a year in Early Access. Players take on the role of human guinea pigs at the Murkoff Corporation as they solve puzzles, evade enemies, and complete objectives. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As die-hard fans of horror across every medium, at Red Barrels we are great admirers of Roy Lee&rsquo;s and Lionsgate&rsquo;s work. Horror movies old and new have had an undeniable impact on our franchise over the years, and to now have the opportunity to work on an&nbsp;<em>Outlast&nbsp;<\/em>film with true horror legends is a dream, or should I say, nightmare, come true,&rdquo; explains&nbsp;David Chateauneuf, Co-Founder and Creative Director at Red Barrels.<\/p>\n<p>The film adaptation marks a &#8220;new chapter&#8221; for the franchise, but for now, there&#8217;s no details on what the movie&#8217;s plot might contain. It&#8217;s likely we could see existing characters on the big screen, and possibly meet some new ones.
