Developer Bethesda Softworks will sunset their digital collectible free-to-play (F2P) card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends. The F2P card game was first launched for mobile devices, Mac and PC, in May 2017 before it was reported that “new content development or releases are on hold for the foreseeable future.”<\/span><\/p>\n

This announcement was made in 2019 in a Reddit pos<\/a>t, and since then, it has been relatively quiet until this new development surfaced online. Players have a few months to enjoy what remains of The Elder Scrolls: Legends; however, those on PC may already be unable to access the game.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to reporting from Rock, Paper, Shotgun<\/a> on 2nd November 2024, PC players are unable to access the game on Steam as the game’s search results have been removed from the digital storefront. A link to the game’s listing<\/a> states the following, “The Elder Scrolls: Legends is no longer available on the Steam store,”<\/strong><\/em>and per Rock, Paper, Shotgun, there’s an in-game pop-up notice that also states the game’s closure with a date of its server shutdown provided alongside the notice.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Elder Scrolls: Legends servers will permanently shut down on January 30, 2025. From now until January 30, 2025, all items in the store and entry into in-game events will be available for one Gold each, so you can enjoy all the content Legends has to offer,”<\/em><\/strong> the pop-up notice reads.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pop-up notice continues, “On that date, servers will be shut down, and the game will be inaccessible. Thank you for playing and we hope you have enjoyed your time in Legends.”<\/p>\n

This news comes at a time when a handful of card games like Marvel Snap<\/a> and the recently released Pokémon TCG Pocket<\/a> have found success in this genre. It’s rather unfortunate and bad timing to see The Elder Scrolls: Legends leave the market at a time when it has found an audience in recent years.<\/p>\n
