This guide details everything about the Asgardian demon, Surtur, by looking at its abilities, identifying its key synergies and counters, and spotlighting three decks featuring the card in Marvel Snap.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"mcetoc_1ibtsqcup2\">Marvel Snap Surtur Card Abilities Explained<\/h2>\n<p>As one of the most powerful enemies native to the dimension of Asgard, Surtur has had several tumultuous battles with Odin, Thor, and all of Asgard throughout <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marvel.com\/characters\/surtur\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">its comic book history<\/a>, including one fateful battle during Ragnarok. Surtur has a Common Ability that reads, <strong><em>&#8220;After you play a card with 10+ Power, this gains +3 Power.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"input-sentence~1\">There are a handful of 10+ Power cards available in-game; however, playing them does leave them vulnerable to Shang-Chi, and Red Guardian can counter Surtur. Nevertheless, it&#8217;s not impossible to get Surtur&#8217;s power increased if paired up with cards to prevent Shang-Chi from targeting high Powered cards like Armor and Caiera, but it remains unclear if it continues to gain power if more high Powered cards are in play.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"input-sentence~2\">While we&#8217;ll cover this angle in our deckbuilding section, how exactly can Snappers acquire this fiery demon and add it to their Collection? (Picture: Untapped.gg)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span id=\"input-sentence~0\">Looking at Surtur&#8217;s base stats, the card is decent to play even when not triggering its ability; however, once a high Powered card is on the board, it will start to gain the +3 Power.<\/span><span id=\"input-sentence~1\"> It can continue to gain more Power for every 10+ Power card on board; however, counters like Shang-Chi, Shadow King, Cassandra Nova, and Scorpion, the latter two can be countered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-luke-cage-decks\">Luke Cage<\/a>, which gives us High Evolutionary deck ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"input-sentence~2\">Nevertheless, Surtur will look at the cards&#8217; effective, not base Power value, before gaining power itself, and naturally, the first card that synergizes well with Surtur is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-skaar-decks\">Skaar<\/a>, which reduces its cost by two for every card with 10+ Power.<\/span><span id=\"input-sentence~3\"> These two cards have similar card text abilities, so you&#8217;ll want to insert Surtur in decks where Skaar shines best, like <a href=\"https:\/\/marvelsnapzone.com\/decks\/4-10-to-tuma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">this mega-powered deck from Marvel Snap content creator PulseGlazer<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"input-sentence~3\">This Skaar deck swaps out Cosmo for Surtur, which features several 10+ Powered cards in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-attuma-decks\">Attuma<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-crossbones-decks\">Crossbones<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-cull-obsidian-decks\">Cull Obsidian<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-typhoid-mary-decks\">Typhoid Mary<\/a> (the latter&#8217;s ability will be voided with Luke Cage), but they have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-zabu-decks\">Zabu<\/a> to reduce certain four Cost cards that are 10+ Powered. As previously mentioned, Surtur looks at a card&#8217;s effective power, not just base power; cards like Hit-Monkey, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-sage-decks\">Sage<\/a>, and Gilgamesh are other synergistic cards for Surtur, and we suggest trying Surtur with Gilgamesh in Zoo decks.<\/p>\n<p>These cards can gain power relatively quickly, especially in the case of Sage, which is often featured in Mister Negative decks. This <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mp49erpiRTg?si=qdypsLU6FlawC-25&amp;t=518\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">negatively fiery deck from Marvel Snap content creator Ankh<\/a> utilizes the combo of Zabu and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-ravonna-renslayer-decks\">Ravonna Renslayer<\/a> to bring down specific cards&#8217; Costs, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-mister-negative-decks\">Mister Negative<\/a> flips every card&#8217;s Cost and Power values to make them most accessible to play.<\/p>\n<p>Cards like Sage, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-blob-decks\">Blob<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-taskmaster-decks\">Taskmaster<\/a> can easily reach the 10 Power threshold, which helps Surtur gain +3 Power for each of them.
