Developer Massive Entertainment is just a few days away from its biggest days as its galactic action-adventure Star Wars Outlaws<\/a> will launch on Steam<\/a> months following its initial release. The game is available to add to players’ Wishlist for those who have yet to experience this fast-paced, high-action adventure with protagonist Kay Vess and her trusted companion Nix<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside its Steam release, Massive Entertainment announced that the next major update for Star Wars Outlaws will arrive shortly for consoles and PCs. This was outlined recently in a developer update that details the contents for Title Update 1.4, which sees some significant changes being made to the game’s combat system and weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The latest developer update<\/a> revealed some of the biggest changes coming to Star Wars Outlaws in their forthcoming patch, Title Update 1.4. Creative Director Drew Rechner detailed what changes players can expect following player feedback, expressing “a desire for a deeper and more engaging combat loop.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly, stealth enthusiasts will now be rewarded as the developer has made adjustments to all enemy types and weapons, and armor and health stats have been significantly “tuned” for all enemies to “make them more distinct.” In addition, the developer will also be including “weak points” to these enemy types to ensure players can take down challenging enemies by landing that important “precision shot,” which becomes more satisfying with the new “defeat animations and hit reactions.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The next area to receive some adjustments or optimizations is to improve “weapon feel” by upgrading specific weaponry mechanics such as “recoil, fire rate, ammo, and accuracy” for all weapons present in-game and improving weapon audio, visual effects, and their UI, respectively.<\/span> More specifically, the developer has redesigned certain weapons, including the Ashiga ABR-2 Zato Blaster Rifle, which saw its firing patterns completely overhauled.<\/span><\/p>\n

Likewise, certain weapon parts and upgrades will receive some attention; although it’s not clear which are getting reworked, we do know that the Power and Ion Modules are one such upgrade that will be changed.<\/span> Its new reworking now also allows Kay to fire her Blaster and target covered enemies and knock them out, and the Ion Module can stun enemies for a prolonged period, making them more susceptible to damage while in this state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding open-world combat, Kay can now hold onto weapons she may find or discover, making her less likely to drop them, especially in scenarios like climbing and “traversing” the environments or when interacting with enemies. The final change that’s being made for Star Wars Outlaws’ combat system is regarding cover as now the camera no longer “try and predict which shoulder it should be on,” as it gives players the option to opt for which shoulder the camera will rest on when swapping between weapons for greater control, precision and most importantly stability when taking cover.<\/span><\/p>\n

We’ll update our Patch Notes page<\/a> for all the changes, adjustments, and optimizations coming to Star Wars Outlaws once Title Update 1.4 becomes available for consoles and PCs. The galactic action-adventure game will also see the launch of the first story expansion, Wild Card<\/a>, launching the same day as the Title Update 1.4 patch and its Steam release on 21st November 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n
