Friday the 13th and Killer Klowns from Outer Space developers IllFonic have been hit with layoffs, citing the “state of the industry” as the reason.<\/p>\n

IllFonic CEO & Co-Founder Charles Brungardt made the announcement on X\/Twitter: “Today we had to accept the harsh reality that the state of the industry has impacted us here at IllFonic.”<\/p>\n

Brungart continued, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that cuts to our team had to be made as we re-aligned to a refined strategy. There is a lot of talent in this group and if you or your team is hiring, please reach out so people can be connected to open roles. Thank you.”<\/p>\n

So far, it’s unclear how many people will be affected by IllFonic’s layoffs, or how they might affect the studio’s development pipeline for upcoming games, as well as ones that receive regular updates like Killer Klowns.<\/p>\n

The news of IllFonic’s layoffs comes at a time when the video game industry is facing significant challenges, and layoffs seem to be commonplace. Even well-known studios like IllFonic, which have developed games like Friday the 13th: The Game and Killer Klowns from Outer Space, are feeling the impact of these dynamic shifts in the industry, forcing them to re-evaluate their strategies. <\/p>\n
