It&#8217;s no secret that <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/ashleighrpg.bsky.social\/post\/3ldjlbvan4k2h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">I&#8217;ve documented my issues with the current Spotlight Caches<\/a> and the recent string of Pixel variants obtained from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/collector-reserves\">Collector&#8217;s Reserves<\/a> that the prospect for change seemed to be a dying hope.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This may be changed as the developer has outlined new plans to remedy the problems many Snappers have experienced in acquiring cards, some more out of reach as most card releases have either been a Series 4 or 5. With <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marvelsnap.com\/newsdetail?id=7415247896284601094\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a massive Series Drop planned for the new year<\/a>, the first major <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/patch-notes\">patch update<\/a> arriving in January 2025 will long-last some considerable changes to card acquisition, which is a step in the right direction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So, what are the new changes to be implemented in the January 2025 patch? Second Dinner (@seconddinner) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/seconddinner\/status\/1869813514900254835?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 19, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What is known is that these changes are coming soon, which the developer posted across the official Second Dinner social media accounts, stating that <strong><em>&#8220;acquiring cards has become progressively more difficult.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> This is based on player feedback they&#8217;ve received, but the major issues plaguing Snappers from acquiring the cards they need boil down to the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Overall, there is a lack of agency in acquiring<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> new cards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">New users struggle to <strong><em>&ldquo;get to the meta&rdquo;<\/em><\/strong> faster, as earning all Series 3&rsquo;s cards takes too long.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Returning players struggle to <strong><em>&#8220;catch up&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> after skipping a season or more of new cards and rewards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The randomness of the Spotlight Cache system feels frustrating.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To address these growing concerns, they have revealed that work on a permanent <strong><em>&#8220;design&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> is ongoing; however, it does have a drawback. &#8220;<em><strong>Rebuilding some core aspects of SNAP takes time to get right&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> as <strong><em>&#8220;we are in the process of gathering additional feedback on the design while the work continues in production.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The exact time of when this <strong><em>&#8220;design&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> will be released is unconfirmed, citing <strong><em>&#8220;it will take a few months&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> to complete, but they have a few ways to address this in the meantime <strong><em>&#8220;to improve quality of life around card acquisition.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> This is where the January 2025 patch comes into play, as the developer will add a few changes to make card acquisition less frustrating to all players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The first is by <strong>increasing the existing drop rates of Series 3 cards for the Collector&#8217;s Reserve caches<\/strong>, which are found within the Collection tracker, doubling its rates <strong><em>&#8220;from 2 out of every 9 to 4 out of every 9.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> This is to ensure that Snappers who are starting the game or have yet to complete their Series 3 collection more efficiently and reduces the time to achieve this, adding that <strong><em>&#8220;this is a band-aid fix, but something we can do quickly.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/M-Y9yyxUEiOq_ZbFphubXlcluScC16H0NG8hlUkBsQ4\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMy82NzY1ODA2ODkxODc4LWNvdmVyLmpwZw\" alt=\"6765806891878-cover.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">The Marvel Snap developer are looking to increase Collector&#8217;s Tokens payout when receiving a duplicated card from the Spotlight Caches in the January 2025 patch. (Picture: Second Dinner)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Next is increasing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/snap-collector-tokens\">Collector&#8217;s Tokens<\/a> payout from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/spotlight-caches\">Spotlight Caches<\/a>, which refreshes weekly with a new card release and two Series 4 or 5 cards, <strong>from 1,000 Tokens to 2,000 Tokens when acquiring a duplicated card<\/strong>. As someone who had received two duplicated cards during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-luna-snow-decks\">Luna Snow<\/a> and, recently, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-doom-2099-decks\">Doom 2099<\/a> Spotlight Cache weeks, it was<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> agonizing (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/marvel-snap\/best-agony-decks\">not the card<\/a>), and the payout continues to be an issue not just for myself but other Snappers, too, so this is a welcoming change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Staying with issues plaguing the Spotlight Caches, the developer understands that this system is flawed, with the duplicated card feature an even bigger issue, whether it is being pulled for the first or last slot. As this uses up precious resources, the Spotlight Keys once again stated that this increased Token payout is too <em><strong>&#8220;a band-aid&#8221;<\/strong><\/em> change <em><strong>&#8220;but fairly straightforward so that we can release it quickly.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As mentioned, these <strong><em>&#8220;band-aid&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> changes will go live in the January 2025 patch update, which we are guessing will launch with the new season of Marvel Snap, possibly on 7th January 2025, but we cannot confirm the date as of writing.
