It has been well over two weeks following the global release<\/a> of NetEase Games’ superhero team-based PvP shooter Marvel Rivals<\/a>, in which around 20 million players<\/a> have joined the game, ready to “ignite the battle.” During this period, we’ve seen two post-launch patch updates and multiple additions to the game, and recently, a new seasonal in-game event arrived in time for the holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n

While players have been exploring the seasonal content that arrived in the Winter Celebration event, including the adorable free cosmetic skin for Jeff the Baby Land Shark<\/a>, the developer has provided an update on a requested feature that is reportedly in the works.<\/span><\/p>\n

In an interview with Dot Esports this month<\/a>, Marvel Rivals creative director Guangyun “Guangguang” Chen provided an update on a requested feature that wasn’t available with the game at launch: cross-progression. While the community has wondered why this feature didn’t ship with the game or was included in the recent patch updates, Chen answered this important question about when players could likely expect this feature to be available.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cross-progression involves a lot of platform-specific rules, we’re still looking at it and how to solve it. Once the team is ready, once we’ve figured it out, we’ll be sharing to everyone, and players will be the first to know.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cross-progression has been a prominent feature across multiple gaming releases over the years, as it allows players to pick up and play a game on a platform and continue their progression on other supported platforms.<\/span> This feature oftentimes promotes a game’s lifespan and replayability, as players can take their gaming progress to other supported platforms as long as their account is linked to these platforms and saved through Cloud features, but with no estimated period to confirm, it will be some time until cross-progression finds its way to Marvel Rivals.<\/span><\/p>\n
