2024 was a turbulent year for the game development industry, which saw multiple studios closed down, including The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks. The developer’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, was bought by Microsoft in 2021, adding numerous award-winning studios to the Microsoft Gaming banner, like Arkane Studios (Dishonored, Prey), Bethesda Game Studios (The Elder Scrolls, Fallout), and id Software (DOOM, Quake), but Tango Gameworks subsequently closed down by Microsoft in June 2024.
