The launch of Civilization 7 is now less than a month away, and the final Modern Age civs set for the game are slowly being unveiled. While the latest reveal had been suspected for quite some time as it seems a natural choice for a game with Napoleon as a leader, we’ve now learned exactly what the French Empire will be capable of. With such a turbulent history, players will have a few different ways to approach building and maintaining their own French Empire in Civilization 7<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Civ 7 Reveals French Empire and New Jacobin Unit<\/h2>\n

Following the announcement of the Marquis de Lafayette as one of the leaders in Civ 7<\/a>, they’ve also now confirmed the French Empire will be one of the Modern Age civilizations available at launch. Napoleon Bonaparte was actually among the first leaders revealed as his alternate persona will be linked to players having also logged in to Civ 6, which likely aimed to draw new players (or those still in Civ 5) towards buying Civ 6 ahead of the Civ 7 release.<\/p>\n

However, they’d stopped short of confirming the French Empire or any details about it until now. With the unique combination of militaristic and diplomatic attributes, players will have many different ways to approach using the French in Civilization 7<\/a>. Their unique ability “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” will allow them to select the Golden Age effects of any government in the Modern Age.<\/p>\n

A fitting choice, the Salon will be a unique building for Fance that provides happiness with a bit of culture. Similarly, the Jardin à la Française unique building will provide culture with a bit of happiness, so these should complement each other well in cities. Perhaps the most interesting French Empire exclusive will be the Jacobin, a Unique Great Person Unit tied to the Avenue quarter.<\/p>\n
