TikTok’s ban in the United States may have been anticipated as millions of US-based users expressed their dismay at the decision to suspend its services in the country. However, thousands, if not millions, of US-based players were subsequently shut out as bans for other ByteDance-owned IPs, including Marvel Snap, were also suspended as Snap’s publisher, Nuverse, is owned by ByteDance.<\/p>\n

The developer has been able to restore game services in the United States as the game has returned to app stores and has stated that they’ll be looking for a new publisher<\/a> to avoid similar situations from happening. They’ve also confirmed that compensation is being planned for all players<\/a>, and the developer unveiled the compensation plans last weekend.<\/p>\n

30th January 2025 Update:<\/strong><\/span> Marvel Snap developer announced via the in-game Mail that the Welcome Back packages for US-based and global players have been distributed to players on 29th January 2025. Second Dinner was posted to their official Twitter account and Discord server<\/a>, respectively, on 24th January 2025, which outlined the compensation plans they’ve planned for all Marvel Snap players. “As such, we are not only committed to making up for this disruption, but we want to welcome back players, new and old, with some extra goodies to celebrate,”<\/em><\/strong> the statement read.<\/p>\n
These goodies were detailed as the developer provided a breakdown of compensation rewards to be distributed to US-based and non-US-based (global) players, with a timeline on when they’ll be distributed sometime this week. “As for US players, we wanted to make sure we covered all rewards for the missed time,”<\/em><\/strong> while non-US-based or “global players,”<\/em><\/strong> the developer has “included extras like Alliance rewards”<\/em><\/strong> with “an additional bonus on top as a thank you”<\/em><\/strong> for their loyalty “to all players.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    The developer also provided an FAQ section that explicitly details which players qualify for various rewards they’ve detailed, citing that “all existing US-based players will receive the US Downtime Package,”<\/strong><\/em> which are accounts created before 20th January 2025 either in the United States or “who has any activity in the United States in the last 30 days prior to the outage.”<\/em><\/strong> For non-US-based (global) players, the “Global Gratitude Package”<\/strong><\/em> will be distributed to “all players whose accounts were created before 20th January 2025 and not covered by US-based players.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
    Lastly, for US-based players who used a VPN during the game’s outage, this usage “will not affect their eligibility,”<\/strong> according to the developer. “This includes players from outside the US VPN-ing into the US to try and receive the US Downtime Package,” <\/em><\/strong>the developer concluded.<\/p>\n
