Cancel your trip to Leonida…gamers! It is with some regret that I must report that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA6)<\/a> has been officially delayed until 2026. To be precise, the next entry into the iconic franchise will now release on 26 May 2026.<\/p>\n

That’s from an official source, as Rockstar Games released a short and rather devastating message to fans who’ve been waiting a very long time. The developers explained that:<\/p>\n

Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026. We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That can’t be great for anyone, including the developer and publisher, but at the end of the day, it’s better than releasing a game that isn’t finished.<\/p>\n

Remember, 26 May 2026 will fall into a new financial year, and GTA 6 is reportedly<\/a> expected to make over $3 billion USD in its first year alone, and it’s predicted that the game could exceed $1 billion in pre-orders.<\/p>\n

Rockstar further explained:<\/p>\n

With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The developer finished off this news by stating that they will share more information with fans “soon,” which means we might see another trailer drop!<\/p>\n

We’ll have to wait a little bit longer for GTA 6 to take us back to the state of Leonida—based on Florida—meeting (and possibly shooting at) all the interesting characters while we are there. <\/p>\n
