One of Apex Legends’ most recognizable players, Timothy “iiTzTimmy” An, announced his decision to retire from the competitive scene following the conclusion of NRG’s stand in the Esports World Cup 2025. <\/p>\n

In a video posted to his personal X (Twitter) account<\/a>, iiTzTimmy said of the decision, “There’s been a lot of things going on in my head, in my mind, that I wanted to share with you guys… I enjoy competing, it’s so much fun…While I do believe that there is luck involved — it’s a battle royale — there’s a lot of skill. I commend the people around me being able to play consistently at that high level. There have been moments in my life where I’m like ‘Wow, I may be him. I may genuinely be calling  like the greatest IGL in the world.’ But then there’s also times where I’m like ‘Wow. That was bad.'”<\/p>\n

The news comes during the Esports World Cup opening week, where Apex Legends shares the initial slots with games such as VALORANT and Fatal Fury to kick off the first Championship Weekend.<\/p>\n

“While I’m going to my next tournament I find myself thinking a lot more about time, and my future,” the IGL said. “I have two things that I really enjoy. I have streaming and competing… Biggest [priorities] over everything in my entire life. I sometimes just can’t give my 100%, I’m realistically giving 90%. Which I think is really good, but I’m also giving that other 5-10% on other things, like streaming, my family, my friends… I just think that’s very unfair for my org, my teammates, and my community… I made the tough decision to retire from competitive for Apex Legends.”<\/p>\n

iiTzTimmy made his move to NRG back in March this year, moving over from 100 Thieves. The team competed in the recent ALGS Open in New Orleans, finishing 12th. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
