The game, which has nearly 33 million active users in India, has been banned by government<\/a> over section 69A of the Information Technology Act – stating it’s “engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”.<\/p>\n Among the other banned apps is Rise of Kingdoms, Baidu, WeChat Work, Tencent Weiyun, APUS Launcher and Mobile Taobao. <\/p>\n A statement from the Indian government reads: “The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources including several reports about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India.<\/p>\n “The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures.”<\/p>\n PUBG Mobile recently announced a revamped league<\/a> which hopes to further catapult its profile as an esport, although these new measures will be a massive block to many of the top teams.<\/p>\n
