As you blow your way through the bosses facing you in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, you'll notice that with most of them, you can pretty much use any AC build you want. The Ice Worm boss, however, is slightly different, as not having the correct weaponry will make defeating it all but impossible.

So, if you're looking to take down the Ice Worm boss and want to know what firepower you'll need to beat it, then you're in the right place. Below you can find a comprehensive breakdown of everything you need to know to beat the Ice Worm boss in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

Ice Worm Boss Encounter Tips

The Ice Worm boss battle leans more towards a novelty than a formidable challenge, yet that doesn't imply it's devoid of difficulty. A crucial requirement is having the VE-60SNA Stun Needle Launcher equipped, a shoulder weapon that becomes accessible upon completing the preceding mission. Equipping this weapon is essential, as it's pivotal for incapacitating the Ice Worm.

Defeating the boss revolves less around inflicting raw damage and more around precise shots executed at opportune moments. This is due to the initial necessity of stunning the boss using the aforementioned weapon. After successfully stunning it multiple times, the boss's shields will eventually weaken, permitting a clear opportunity to decisively defeat it.

Ice Worm Attacks to Watch For:

  • Watch out for spawning drones during the Ice Worm encounter to prevent getting stunned, which can expose you to the worm's assaults.
  • As the boss enters its third phase (after summoning drones), be prepared for it to launch red bursts of electricity toward the player, especially when the boss's health drops to its final quarter.

Ice Worm Strategy Tips:

To immobilize the Ice Worm, target the frontal section where its three massive drills are located. Inflicting sufficient damage to stun it will dismantle its primary shield. The stun needle launcher is crucial for this task, and its potency also makes it advisable for general use.

Once the main shield is disabled, Rusty, your trusty companion,  will employ a rail gun to thoroughly incapacitate the Ice Worm. This is the moment to channel all your damage towards the same front area you've been targeting. Since the windows for dealing damage are restricted, each opportunity must be maximized.

Following the Ice Worm's defeat on two occasions, it will revitalize and intensify its aggression. Maintain constant movement to evade its subterranean assaults, while staying airborne to thwart its ground-based attacks. If you fail to vanquish the Ice Worm during the final attempt, the mission automatically fails.

So, employ your explosive weaponry, firing relentlessly at the Ice Worm's face during this final phase. The Stun Needle inflicts considerable damage, and you possess sufficient ammo for the damage phase. The key thing to remember is that when the boss goes down for the third time, commit your full effort to depleting the remaining health of the boss to avoid having to redo the entire mission.
