FromSoftware

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is quickly approaching its release, and while we know quite a bit about the game's story and mechanics, one aspect that many players are curious about is the multiplayer aspects, namely, whether the game will feature PvP. If this is something that you're also interested in, then keep reading.

Below, we'll take a look at whether or not Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will feature PvP based on current speculation and what we know about the game so far. So without further delay, let's jump right in.

Does Armored Core VI support PvP?

To address this question upfront, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon primarily offers a single-player experience. However, upon its launch in August, the game will incorporate a Player versus Player (PvP) option. It's important to note, though, that this PvP element won't take center stage as it did in previous iterations of Armored Core, where multiplayer held a more prominent role.

In a recent interview with GameSpot, the game director, Masaru Yamamura, clarified that the central focus of Armored Core 6 lies in its single-player campaign. He explained, "The main thing we wanted to concentrate on was the single-player campaign, so that's the main meat of the content."

While the game will include an online versus mode at launch, this aspect serves as a platform for players to pit their personally customized armored cores against each other. It's a straightforward and uncomplicated online versus mode designed for dedicated fans of the series.

Yamamura further emphasized that Armored Core 6 directs its main emphasis toward the single-player campaign, with the addition of multiplayer serving as a simple extra to complement the solo experience. "We wanted the focus to be on single-player, and that single-player story and campaign style," Yamamura conveyed. "But also have that element of multiplayer brought in just as something simple that players can access easily if they want to try it out. The people who’ve known the online from previous entries can jump straight in, it's just there, and it's not too complicated to get into as an additional element to the single player."

Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed this feature as well in an interview with IGN. In the same interview, he also stated that the game won't include cooperative gameplay within the story mode. Currently, players will be able to engage in PvP combat against each other, but it seems that a more extensive multiplayer feature won't be part of the experience.

So there you have it, a comprehensive look at the PvP functionality that will be available in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. As we get more details regarding this feature, we will be sure to update this listing and give you a more in-depth breakdown of the PvP once the game releases on 25 August 2023.
