Released back in September 2021 to high praise from the gaming industry, Arkane's Deathloop saw two rival assassins trapped in a mysterious time loop on Blackreef island, with the signature Arkane combat and freedom we've come to love in the Dishonored franchise. That's why we are so excited about the possibility of Deathloop 2, or at least a DLC.
This consistently updated article explains everything we know so far about Deathloop 2, from an expected release date window to news, leaks, platforms, returning characters, and more, so let's reset the clock and get started.
Deathloop 2 or DLC in Developerment Leak?
In an interview with Streamily, the voice actor of Colt (the original Deathloop protagonist), Jason Kelley, talked about the audition process. Jason Kelley then let slip that both himself and Ozioma Akagha (voice actress for Julianna) are still being hired by Arkane under the Deathloop codename.
Check out the video below to see the interaction for yourself. It starts at roughly 11 minutes in.
This leads us to believe that Deathloop 2, or a DLC for the original, is in development. However, neither Arkane nor Bethesda has announced the sequel or confirmed any of the information. We will keep you updated when/if this changes.
Deathloop 2 Release Date Speculation
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Deathloop 2, but in this article, you’ll find all (if any) information that the developer shared, as well as some speculation from Ginx on when we could see it launch.
There is no Deathloop 2 release date, as the game hasn't even been officially announced just yet. We do expect to maybe get some kind of sequel or DLC announcement by the end of 2023 after the release of Redfall.
Deathloop 2 Characters: Colt & Julianna Returns?
If the leak mentioned in our previous section is accurate, then we will see Colt and Julianna return as characters in Deathloop 2.
As for other characters, while no information is available, the whole point of Deathloop is to assassinate interesting boss-type characters, so we do expect a colorful cast of new people to take down.
Deathloop 2 Platforms
Deathloop 2 will, without a doubt, be released on both Xbox Series X/S and PC. There's no telling if the game will come to PS5. However, we do suspect it will not, judging by Starfield's exclusivity.
While there's no official information, we are almost certain it will not release on previous-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One. Even the original has not been released on previous-gen consoles, after all.
Will Deathloop 2 be on Xbox Game Pass?
Since the original Deathloop made its way onto Xbox Game Pass following the timed-exclusive PlayStation period, we have little doubt that Deathloop 2 will release on Xbox Game Pass as well.
There's also the fact that Microsoft owns Bethesda and developer Arkane, so a Day One release on Xbox Game Pass isn't out of the question for Deathloop 2 either.
Will Deathloop 2 Have a Multiplayer Mode?
One of the most exciting aspects of the original was how players could "invade" another person's game as a rival assassin. While nothing is confirmed, we hope that Deathloop 2 will have the same time of multiplayer systems in place.
So there you have everything we know so far about Deathloop 2, from the expected release date window to news, leaks, details, characters, platforms, and more. We will endeavor to update this article as soon as more information becomes available.
