Elden Ring DLC To Take More Time Before It Is Ready

The Elden Ring will still need some time before it is ready for players to get their hands on.
Elden Ring DLC To Take More Time Before It Is Ready

It has been nearly an entire year since the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC expansion was announced. The base game won several Game of the Year awards in 2022, and many fans were excited about the new DLC. However, we have not had an official release date since then.

In fact, we've hardly had any updates regarding Shadow of the Erdtree apart from word that development was proceeding smoothly. Recently, the developers shared some more news about the Elden Ring DLC—in short, we will have to wait a bit longer before we can check out the new expansion.

In an interview with the Japanese publication Game Watch, Elden Ring producer Yasuhiro Kitao said that progress with the DLC development is going well. While he did not go into too much detail, Kitao noted that it will be "a little while yet" before the Elden Ring DLC will be released.

Indeed, this wording is especially vague, which leads us to believe that Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC could come out anywhere from a few weeks to a few months from now. More than likely, though, the DLC will not launch in 2023—instead, we can expect it to be released sometime in the first half of 2024.

Although we are no closer to knowing when the Elden Ring DLC will come out, we now have some information on what to expect. Kitao said during the interview that Shadow of the Erdtree will be similar to the Bloodborne DLC called The Old Hunters.

This DLC had a lot of new content, including new levels, characters, and bosses. It was also quite a large DLC drop, with nearly 10 hours of new content for Bloodborne. With Elden Ring being a far more substantive title, there is a chance that Shadow of the Erdtree will be even bigger!
