Evo Japan 2024 Has Revealed the Release Date For Akuma in Street Fighter 6

Akuma is set to join the roster of Street Fighter 6 on May 22, 2024. Players who own the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions or the Year 1 Character Pass and Ultimate Pass for Street Fighter 6 will gain immediate access to Akuma upon his release. Additionally, Year 1 Ultimate Pass holders will receive Enma's Hollow, a new stage tailored to the demonic character.

Further details about Akuma's inclusion were disclosed on the official PlayStation Blog. In addition to being a playable character, Akuma can serve as your mentor in the World Tour mode. By strengthening your bond with Akuma, he will impart his demonic techniques, which you can then utilize during your World Tour adventures or in Avatar Battles within the Battle Hub.

As for Akuma's abilities, while his move set will be familiar to long-time fans, the Satsui no Hado has unlocked new potential. Notably, the Gou Hadoken can now be charged, unleashing a "red fireball" upon release, providing Akuma with enhanced offensive options. Additionally, Adamant Flame, a new move, allows Akuma to execute a forward thrust enveloped in flames.
