Next Gears of War Game Is "Impressive" Teases Industry Insider Jez Corden

Gears of War 6 might not have shown up at the 2023 Xbox Showcase, however, there are still plenty of reasons to be hopeful that Xbox has something in the works behind the scenes.

As per known industry insider Jez Corden - an authority on Xbox news - fans "patience will be rewarded" in their long wait for more from the The Coalition and the Gears franchise. 

When pushed for more information on Twitter, and asked if the game could show up during the Xbox and Bethesda's Extended Showcase taking place later this week, Corden responded with the following:

"Hmm, more patience required lol. But I've heard some impressive things about what TC is cooking. Hang Tight."

For those wanting to tune in anyway, the extended Xbox Games Showcase will air on June 13 at 10am PT, with "in-depth interviews focused on the news from our Xbox Games Showcase as well as game updates from our partners."

Of course, it's incredibly unlikely that Gears of War 6 will show up at the extended showcase, with Gears being such an Xbox mainstay that if it was going to show up anywhere it would have shown up at the main showcase.

Various different sources have reported that Xbox Game Studio The Coalition has fully shifted its attention to developing Gears of War 6. Two separate games from the studio were reportedly canceled, which freed up The Coalition to work on Gears of War 6.

Gears of War 5 was released back in 2019, meaning that we're now in year 4 without a new Gears of War title. That game was a success from critics but faced criticism based on the story of the title. We more than likely wouldn't be seeing a Gears of War 6 until 2025 at the earliest, especially considering the series didn't show up at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase, which is the stage a game like that would most likely show up.
