The Game Awards Will Step Away From World Premiere Label

There are plenty of changes coming to The Video Game Awards in 2023.
The Game Awards Will Step Away From World Premiere Label

It is almost time for the best games of 2023 to be declared. The Game Awards have become a major staple in the video game industry. We now have the nominees for all of the categories in The Game Awards, which includes Honkai Star Rail among many other games.

During the previous Game Awards, we have had many World Premieres which included a wide variety of different announcements. Although this has been a staple in The Game Awards, things are going to be different in 2023. Now, The Game Awards will step away from the World Premiere label of their announcements.

In a Q&A session, host Geoff Keighley was asked about how many World Premieres should expect during the 2023 Game Awards. He said that fans can expect a similar number of announcements this year as in previous years, but they will no longer be called "World Premieres."

He explained that they are moving away from that label because he wants to properly indicate if what they are showing is a first look, an announcement, new gameplay, or anything else. The World Premiere was too broad and he wanted to treat everything as "great game content." But it looks like we should expect some new game announcements this year as per usual.
