Xbox Live Servers Down On 1 February 2023: Users report login issues - How to fix

2023 UPDATE - Although this is an old page, we've noticed people flocking to it once again, and that's because Xbox Live is down again on February 1, 2023.

According to the official Xbox Server Status page, there's a major outage for multiplayer services. Players will reportedly have problems "joining multiplayer games, or finding other players".

Original Story Follows - The Holidays are the perfect occasion to jump into the latest gaming experiences, especially if you've found yourself opening the brand-new Xbox Series X or Series S on Christmas. 

With a vast catalogue of titles available from the get-go just on Game Pass alone, Xbox users are keen on enjoying these holidays by jumping on games such as Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, and more. 

Sadly, it seems a massive bug is preventing thousands of players to spend their time putting their consoles to the test.

Can't login to Xbox Live - How to fix

Whether you're trying to play a game from your own catalogue, downloaded through Game Pass, or even a free to play title, users are reporting that their consoles are demanding that "the person who bought this needs to sign in," despite that being the case for the vast majority of consumers.

The solutions provided by the console range from launching a troubleshooter to making the Xbox you're trying to play on your main console in case it's not -- sadly, we have tested all these options and they do not fix the issue at hand.

According to the Xbox Status website, there are no major outages to report, which doesn't match with the hundreds of players demanding answers from the company via social media. 

@XboxSupport my Xbox is glitching out and says that I have to login as the person who purchased game(s) even though I’m on my main account and no other account is linked to my main, And it is games I purchased on my main. Is it a glitch with the servers?

The Xbox Support Twitter account has yet to acknowledge this massive bug that's affecting console users. We have tested a variety of games using Game Pass on PC and can confirm all the services are functional.
