FaZe Clan Drop Opener as XSE Pro League Guangzhou Hit by Tech Issues

FaZe Clan fell to an 0-1 record on day one of XSE Pro League Guangzhou 2026 as the $1 million CS2 event was disrupted by significant technical issues that affected multiple matches across the opening round of Swiss play.

The problems hit what is easily Xinsai Esports’ most ambitious tournament to date – a 16-team offline LAN at Friendship Hall in the Canton Fair Complex, Guangzhou, featuring Major playoff sides 9z and BetBoom alongside the likes of BIG, Ninjas in Pyjamas, MIBR, and TYLOO. The scale of the event is a considerable step up from earlier XSE Pro League seasons, which carried prize pools closer to $20,000, making the technical stumble on opening day all the more frustrating for organizers trying to establish the competition as a genuine Tier-1 stop on the global CS2 calendar.

A Packed Schedule That Put Infrastructure Under Pressure

Day one’s Swiss round ran several Bo1s simultaneously – including 3DMAX vs NIP, 9z vs EYEBALLERS, BetBoom vs Sinners, and BIG vs Lynn Vision alongside FaZe’s clash with TYLOO – packing serious broadcast and server load into a tight window. The connectivity and infrastructure issues that emerged disrupted match proceedings and scheduling across the board, with FaZe emerging on the wrong side of the results when play did conclude. The appetite for events at this scale in Asia is real – IEM Cologne 2026 recently broke CS2 viewership records, a sign of just how much momentum the game carries heading into a new international LAN market.

What Comes Next in Guangzhou

The Swiss group stage runs through July 9, with the top eight teams advancing to a single-elimination playoff bracket played at South China Agricultural University Gymnasium. A best-of-five grand final closes out the event, and all eyes will be on Xinsai to stabilize operations before the knockout rounds begin. If XSE can iron out the production issues, Guangzhou has the field and the format to make a real case for becoming a regular fixture on the CS2 circuit.
