The upcoming Warzone 2 Season 02 update is confirmed to bring a range of exciting new features, including a brand-new map, modes, weapon balance changes, and more. As outlined in a recent Community Update on 25 January 2023, game developer Infinity Ward shared more information concerning these changes, including the arrival of the highly requested customizable Perk Package feature, available in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 patch update in mid-February.
In the previous Warzone game, Call of Duty players could freely choose up to three Perks. However, this feature was later overhauled following the arrival of “Perk Packages” in Warzone 2, which comprised preset Perks you initially could not change. As such, many players have been requesting that the developers bring Perk customization back to the game — fortunately, it seems that fans’ (desperate) cries did not fall on deaf ears.
As noted in the blog post, “Season 02 will introduce customizable Perk Packages in Warzone 2! This feature will launch with a slightly reduced pool of available Perks, which we may slowly reintroduce over time,” Infinity Ward noted. According to the developers, this approach is to ensure that the “available Perks provide ample utility and remain viable [or] balance options.”
In addition to this change, Infinity Ward added that primary weapons would be available at more affordable prices at Buy Stations so “players can pursue victory with their most desired weapons.” Loadout Drop Markers price has also been slightly reduced to allow squads to acquire their full loadouts faster and may be found on rare occasions while looting. Finally, a second Loadout Drop Public Event has been added, happening on the first and fifth circles of each match.
Echoing the developers, “loadouts have always been a core part of Warzone’s Battle Royale” experience. As a result, these changes will be welcomed by many, allowing players to take better control over their playstyle and weapons in the Warzone 2 Season 02 patch update. Now that you’re clued up on the upcoming Perk Package changes, you might like to continue reading about how Infinity Ward will revive the “original” 1v1 Gulag experience, bringing several logistical changes in the Warzone 2 Season 02 update.
These updates will be further detailed in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 patch notes, which will be released before Season 2 launches on 15 February 2023.
