Baldur's Gate 3 has been in early access for quite some time, having rolled out across PC, macOS, and the since-decomissioned Google Stadia, back in 2020. Throughout its early access years, the story-driven RPG has undergone numerous tweaks and changes, all prepping it for its full release on August 3, 2023 (PC). Console players can also get their hands on Baldur's Gate 3, with a PlayStation 5 release marked for September 6.

Part of the game's draw, particularly for die-hard RPG fans, is its connection to the world of Dungeons & Dragons. Players will see themselves band up with an eccentric cast of characters, uncover mysterious and powerful skills, all to purge the world from evil — or become the source of new corruption. Featuring turn-based combat, players be will utilizing the D&D 5e ruleset: Team-based initiative, advantage and disadvantage, and roll modifiers.

Players will also have the chance to interact with the world of Baldur's Gate 3 in ways that embrace freedom, offering in-depth possibilities for characters through race, subraces, classes, skills and more. Naturally, with so much ground to cover, it's nigh on impossible to wrap your head around every aspect.
