Baldur's Gate 3 has been out for a couple of months now, and fans are finally reaching the end of the massive RPG. There's a LOT to do in the game, and it requires multiple playthroughs to really see everything, but once you've done that what else is there to do other than installing a few mods? Can you play a new game plus version of Baldur's Gate 3?
Will Baldur's Gate 3 get a New Game Plus mode?
It's extremely unlikely that Baldur's Gate 3 will ever get a New Game Plus mode for several reasons. Firstly, the ability to replay Baldur's Gate 3 with all of the abilities that you finished the game with would completely break the difficulty curve of the game. Battles that were conceived with a specific level of difficulty in mind and for a certain level will become incredibly easy, and they may lose a lot of their fun.
The second reason that Baldur's Gate 3 will likely never get a New Game Plus mode is that there's nowhere you can really go from the point you're at during the end of the game. Other games that have New Game Plus modes allow you to unlock new features, or new abilities by playing a new Game Plus mode. Perhaps they even let you level up further to get more and more skills. Baldur's Gate 3 couldn't do that, as spells you gain above level 12 are known to break campaigns in Dungeons & Dragons, and can lead to extremely complicated situations that would be basically impossible to code.
