Baldur's Gate 3: Is It Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass is one of the most popular deals in gaming, but will the upcoming RPG Baldur's Gate 3 be on the service?
Baldur's Gate 3: Is It Coming To Xbox Game Pass?

Xbox Game Pass is known for being one of the best deals in gaming, offering a whole host of games for one simple price. It's got quite a lot of RPGs on the service too, such as Starfield, but will it have Baldur's Gate 3 on the service at launch?

Will Baldur's Gate 3 be on Xbox Game Pass?

Sadly, Baldur's Gate 3 won't be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch and isn't planned to come to the service anytime soon. That's for reasons beyond just the decision to not put the game on Xbox Game Pass, however.

The game won't be on Xbox systems for a while. According to developers over at Larian, Microsoft requires a game to function identically mechanically on both their systems, which Larian has been having trouble with. As has been previously stated by Larian, they've had trouble managing to find a way to get the split-screen working to the same level on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S platforms.

"The team has been working hard on making it work, but they're still working on it. And the problem with optimizations is you finish one thing and then a new one pops up. So here, we're dealing with a situation where we just go through the motions."

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are seemingly coming to Xbox Game Pass however, with several people reporting that they've received a notification on their phone stating that they can install the games now. With this, the potential for Baldur's Gate 3 at Game Pass increases depending on demand.

UPDATE: While there's still no update of Baldur's Gate 1 or Baldur's Gate 2 coming to Xbox Game Pass, we now know that Baldur's Gate 3 itself WILL be coming to both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S later this year, although the Xbox Series S version of the game will not feature Splitscreen compatibility. With this, there's the potential that Microsoft tries to get Larian Studios to put the game on Xbox Game Pass in an attempt to boost subscriptions to the service.
