The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch without a 60fps mode on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, according to new footage from developer Rebel Wolves. Those systems will top out at a 40fps target ahead of the game’s September 3 release.
Rebel Wolves’ upcoming action RPG casts players as Coen, a half-human, half-vampire attempting to save his family in 14th-century Europe. With precise swordplay at the centre of its combat, frame rate can be especially important, making the lack of a 60fps option notable ahead of launch.

What the Console Modes Look Like
The newly released trailer outlines performance modes for PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. None of those listed systems offers a 60fps option. Here’s how the modes break down:
- PS5 Pro: Quality mode with Dynamic 4K targeting 30fps, and Balanced mode with Dynamic 4K targeting 40fps. Both modes include enhanced visual quality.
- Base PS5: Quality mode with Dynamic 4K targeting 30fps, and Balanced mode with Dynamic 4K targeting 40fps.
- Xbox Series X: Quality mode with Dynamic 4K targeting 30fps, and Balanced mode with Dynamic 4K targeting 40fps.
Rebel Wolves has not announced performance details for Xbox Series S. The PS5 Pro offers enhanced visual quality, but its listed frame-rate targets remain the same as those on the base PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Fans React to the Frame-Rate News
Some players have said they would prefer a lower resolution in exchange for a 60fps mode rather than a Dynamic 4K presentation targeting 40fps. Some fans have also said they would get the game on PC because of the console frame-rate news, according to IGN.
Whether Rebel Wolves can add a 60fps option after release remains unknown. The Blood of Dawnwalker is not the only game being discussed in relation to frame rates, with GTA 6 also at the centre of a 60fps conversation.
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s performance details for Xbox Series S have not been revealed.
