R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow: How to unlock in Warzone and Cold War

Here's how you can unlock the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War once it returns following a blunder by the developers.
R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow: How to unlock in Warzone and Cold War

On 18th March 2021, the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow was accidentally released by Treyarch in Black Ops Cold War, and it also appeared in a bundle for Warzone players to purchase for a few hours. While the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow has since been removed, we thought we would share the requirements of unlocking it once it returns to Warzone and Black Ops Cold War during Season 2.

R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow: How to unlock

Once the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow returns (see next section) you can unlock it in Black Ops Cold War by completing an in-game challenge.

While it might be a bit difficult and we recommend playing in Hardcore Mode to get the in-game challenge done, all you need to do is use a weapon with no attachments to get three (3) One Shot, One Kill medals in 15 separate games.

The R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow is described as: "Launches lethal bolt projectiles to silently eliminate enemies. Excellent hip-fire accuracy with good handling. Bolts must be manually loaded."

If you unlock it in Black Ops Cold War, you will be able to use the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow in Warzone. Alternatively, Warzone players will also be able to purchase a bundle containing the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow.

When will R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow return?

At the time of writing, there's no indication from Activision or Treyarch when the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow will return to Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.

On Twitter, Activision Support released the following statement: "An issue with the R1 Shadowhunter weapon appearing earlier than planned in Warzone and Black Ops Cold War has been resolved."

"Refunds are planned for players who purchased the bundle while it was live in the Store, and the bundle and in-game challenge will return at a later date."

While we await the return of the R1 Shadowhunter Crossbow to both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, you can always practice those one-shot kills to unlock it quickly once the weapon returns.
