Modern Warfare 3: Best Aim Assist Settings

Aim assist will help players hit their targets in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and there are a few adjustments available to make it even better.

Aim Assist allows controller players to hit their targets more easily and earn as much XP as possible. But what are the best aim assist settings in Modern Warfare 3?

In a majority of Call of Duty games, aim assist has only one setting. Fans can either enable it or disable it. Usually, it's console players that play with aim assist due to the fact that controllers are not as responsive as a keyboard and mouse. But in Modern Warfare 3, there are four different aim assist options. Here are the different aim assist options in Modern Warfare 3:

  • Default: Traditional aim slowdown near target used in Modern Warfare games.
  • Precision: Strong aim slowdown that only kicks in when aiming closer to the target. Best for accurate players.
  • Focusing: Strong aim slowdown that also kicks in when narrowly missing the target. Best for players new to analog aiming.
  • Black Ops: Traditional aim slowdown near target used in Black Ops games.

Out of the three options, we recommend Black Ops aim assist. Treyarch's aim assist option appears to be the smoothest and least invasive while also actually assisting the player. Default is also a good option, but many Black Ops fans would recommend the Black Ops aim assist in Modern Warfare 3 over the other options.

For those who want to experience as little aim assist as possible in Modern Warfare 3, we recommend using Precision. Precision will give players very little assistance when they are targeting other players and it will feel more natural for keyboard and mouse players transitioning to controllers. However, aim assist is important for controller players due to how clunky the game can be when aiming with dual analog sticks.
