Modern Warfare 3 has already seen waves of players hit max level, with Season 1 still fresh on the table. So for those looking for a more challenging experience, the wait for Ranked Play has been agonizing. Thankfully, we won't have long to wait.

When Does Ranked Play Start In Modern Warfare 3?

Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play is set to start during the mid-season update for Season 1, which we expect to be sometime in early 2024. Season 1 officially began on December 6, 2023, and the mid-season Reloaded update for Call of Duty typically kicks off roughly over a month after.

Some outlets have speculated that we could see the Season 1 Reloaded update release on January 17, 2024 or around that time. This means that Ranked Play should also be dropping in this timeframe. 

How Does Ranked Play Work In Modern Warfare 3?

Ranked Play will be presented by Treyarch in partnership with Sledgehammer Games. Launching in the mid-season, Activision has claimed that it will build "upon the foundation established by Modern Warfare 2."

This stand-alone competitive Multiplayer will use Call of Duty League approved rules, restrictions, maps, and modes. Like before, players will be able to track their progression and standing with a visible skill rating, while earning rewards across Skill Divisions and Tiers. The best players will make their way into the Top 250 Leaderboard, so everyone will be able to see just who are the ones to beat.

What's Coming In Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded?

Aside from the anticipated Ranked Play mode. In Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded, we can expect to see some new maps and modes drop as part to the update. One mode coming in the mid-season is Vortex, a free-for-all LTM where one player spawns in with the one-shot Ray Gun. It's up to everyone else to take them down. 

We'll also be seeing Infected mode, where one player is chosen at random to spawn in as the infected. Naturally, they'll be tasked with elimitating the other survivors and turning them into infected, too.
