On 29th July 2022, an artist named Saillin on ArtStation called out Activision for allegedly plagiarizing their artwork and using it as a cosmetic in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Season 4. Accordingly, Saillin alleges that Activision stole their artwork, which they posted on ArtStation in 2019, and used it for their Loyal Samoyed skin and Floof Fury cosmetic bundle. Activision has yet to respond to these allegations.
Activision Allegedly Steals Artwork From Artist
The allegations come after Saillin found out Activision supposedly conceptualized a new character skin for players to purchase in their games, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone. To their shock, Saillin found out their artwork seemed nearly identical to that of the skin Activision were advertising in their upcoming update, which included the Floof Fury bundle, Loyal Samoyed skin, and Terminator series cosmetics.

In a Twitter post on 29th July 2022, Saillin called Activision out for the alleged plagiarism of their artwork, stating they were the “original artist” of the Samoyed skin. Saillin said, “I only just found at the time of the announcement that my work was plagiarized.” Saillin added, “Even though I am also a Call of Duty player, I’m very disappointed to see my work was plagiarized.”
Saillin further added that they’ve reached out to Activision regarding the alleged plagiarism, requesting an explanation or compensation for using the artwork in their games. They stated, “As an individual artist, I can only do so much. I have to speak out about this to stop things like this [from] happening again in the future.”
The Loyal Samoyed resembles Saillin’s artwork, with almost everything falling into an identical place. Both skins have a checkered scarf, light blue, brown-ish garments, elbow pads, and a Samoyed dog comprising the cosmetic. The only apparent difference is that Activision’s version features a different gun.
At the time of writing, Activision and Raven Software have removed the cosmetics from their websites, Twitter, and advertising pages. However, they haven’t reached out to Saillin regarding the plagiarism accusations.
