New York Subliners, Dallas Empire and Toronto Ultra set to collide after CDL Stage 4 Groups are announced
CDL Stage 4 2021: How to watch, groups, match schedule and preview

As we enter Stage 4 of the 2021 CDL season, all teams will continue the fight for vital league points. After Atlanta FaZe once again took out the competition to win the Stage 3 Major, they left other teams with a question, who can knock them off their perch. With an 84% win percentage and a 22-4 record, they are hitting their stride at the right time of the year.

CDL Stage 4 is arguably the most important stage of the year for teams still competing for a top 8 place in the overall standings. With 10 league matches remaining in the year, each team outside of the playoff spots still have a mathematical chance to claim their spot in the CDL playoffs.

CDL Stage 4 Preview

Two-time major champions Atlanta FaZe remain the team to beat heading into this stage. If they can repeat performances from stage 1 and 3, they will secure first place in overall standings. Additionally in group A, OpTic Chicago and LA Thieves are aiming for at least two wins each to further cement their overall placing. In an attempt to change fortuntes, LA Thieves acquired the services of Cuyler "Huke" Garland.

Both Seattle Surge and Paris Legion remain unchanged but are in desperate need for a positive win/loss record in groups. As they both lurk close to the foot of the table, it is now or never for these teams. Minnesota Rokkr decided to bench Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi which brings Michael “MajorManiak” Szymaniak into the starting lineup. This change could see Rokkr play an extra SMG setup, bringing a more aggressive playstyle to matches.

Group B is set to be the most competitive with three of the top four teams set to collide with each other. Stage 3 Major finalists New York Subliners have consistently grew stronger over the course of the season, and with Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez hitting top form, they can compete with anybody. In an attempt to change fortunes, Dallas Empire signed Reece “Vivid” Drost. After an inconsistent year, this permanent move should provide stability for the 2020 CDL champions.

Toronto Ultra remain unchanged, but London Royal Ravens, Florida Mutineers and LA Guerrillas are all within 50 points of each other. As all three teams are in 8th, 9th and 10th place in standings, the key narrative of who will make it into the playoff positions will come to fruition. With teams competing for playoff spots, roster changes, and two evenly exciting groups about to start play, this stage is set to be the most intense thus far.
