COD Vanguard AR tier list - Every assault rifle ranked from best to worst for beta

The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta has a lot of exciting content, from all the new mapsperks, killstreaks, equipment and exciting modes to enjoy. For many Call of Duty fans, all the content pales in comparison to the weapons which they will use to blow their enemies away with a storm of bullets. That's why we take on the task of providing our readers with COD Vanguard weapon tier lists, ranking weapons of each class from best to worst so gamers across the globe know exactly which ones to pick.

We've already discussed the best weapons in COD Vanguard's beta, and now, it's time to rank all the assault rifles from best to worst, as this weapon class is one of the most popular throughout the entire Call of Duty franchise.

COD Vanguard beta assault rifle tier list

First of all, please remember that tier lists are not an exact science. For our COD Vanguard beta assault rifle tier list, we've taken weapon stats, comments from several players, as well as the young meta into consideration.

Description of tiers

  • S-Tier: Even without the perfect loadout, the S-Tier assault rifle in COD Vanguard are considered the best of the best. You simply can't go wrong.
  • A-Tier: With the right attachments and a great loadout that suits your playstyle, the A-Tier assault rifle can compete with the S-Tier.
  • B-Tier: The B-Tier AR can still pack a punch with the perfect loadout, and should be considered average.
  • C-Tier: Only really effective in specific situations or for specific playstyles. You will require the perfect loadout to get the job done in the Vanguard beta.
  • D-Tier: The trash tier. You would be better off simply going for one of the other assault rifles on this list.

AR tier list for COD Vanguard

There are only five assault rifles in the COD Vanguard beta but we expect a lot more to appear when the game launches.

With that in mind, there are some clear winners and losers already for this weapon class. Let's dive right in with the best AR to use in the COD Vanguard beta.

S-Tier

  • STG44

The STG44 is viable in any situation, having a respective range, a fast TTK, and very low recoil, making it the best assault rifle to use in the COD Vanguard beta.

A-Tier

  • Volk

The Volk is one of our favourite weapons and with the right attachments, it can even compete with the STG44. It has a super-fast firing rate and a default mag size of 30, you can kill at least three enemies before having to reload.

B-Tier

A slow rate of fire makes the BAR less than ideal at close-ranged fights. (Picture: Activision)
  • BAR

If you are thirsty for a slow-firing assault rifle in COD Vanguard, then the BAR is definitely a gun to consider, especially if you have a good gunsmith loadout setup. Its bullets pack an incredible punch but the slow rate of fire keeps it out of the A-Tier on our tier list for COD Vanguard's beta.

C-Tier

  • ITRA Burst

This four-round burst weapon sure has high damage per bullet and is good at medium to long-range engagements. Unfortunately, with a small default mag size (20) you have to reload after every five clicks, and it's not great at close-range engagements like the other ARs in the COD Vanguard beta.

D-Tier

  • NZ-41

The NZ-41 is an interesting assault rifle, as it fires heavy-damage rounds to great effect. The weapon, unfortunately, has too much recoil to really handle well and requires a lot of controlled burst shots over a longer range. Unfortunately for the NZ-41, the other ARs in the COD Vanguard beta simply do better.

So there you have it, all the assault rifles in the COD Vanguard beta, ranked from best to worst.
