Call of Duty: Vanguard has officially launched and has attracted a large body of players eager to experience the immersive new features in the game. These features include brand-new maps, destruction mechanics and weather effects, perks, weapons, game modes and more.
For many Call of Duty fans, all of this content pales compared to the weapons they will use to shred their enemies to pieces. That's why we take on the task of providing our readers with COD Vanguard weapon tier lists, ranking weapons of each class based on each weapon's stats and performance in the meta.
So without further ado, here is our list of the best light machine guns (LMGs) at the launch of COD Vanguard, ranked from best to worst.
COD Vanguard LMG tier list
Light machine guns are high capacity, high RPM killing machines. These guns possess superior damage and range but are not exactly light, and thus mobility usually is affected, making them relatively unpopular. However, the question is whether we could see LMGs reemerge by being worthy contenders to the assault rifle class in COD Vanguard. Let's find out.
Description of the tiers
- S-Tier: These LMGs are the strongest and could be considered overpowered with the right attachments.
- A-Tier: While not quite worthy of a seat at the top table, A-Tier LMGs are still absolute shredders and can do a considerable amount of damage.
- B-Tier: In the right hand and with the right attachments, these LMGs can still clap. Just make sure you know what you're doing with them.
- C-Tier: These LMGs are perhaps not wholly terrible; however, they have several drawbacks or could be challenging to use. Don't pick these if there are other options available.
- D-Tier: These LMGs should be avoided and are dubbed the "trash tier" weapons.
Light Machine Gun tier list
There are only four LMGs in COD Vanguard, making this tier list reasonably straightforward. Notably, while we endeavour to always keep our tier lists as accurate as possible, keep in mind that these tier lists aren't an exact science.
The developers Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games are expected to release new weapons and nerf or buff certain weapons in the future. When this occurs, we will update this list. Below, all four light machine guns in COD Vanguard are ranked from best to worst.
The DP27 is the strongest LMG in COD Vanguard, thanks to its impressive damage output and relatively great mobility (well, at least when compared to other guns on this list). Players can unlock the DP27 at Level 12, which is excellent for dominating in the early stages of launch. The best part is that the DP27 can be made even more deadly by equipping the right loadout for the job, dealing maximum damage and killing your opponents before they even know what hit them.
The MG42 (or Maschinengewehr 42) is a German light machine gun, as you could probably tell from its name. It is a full-auto powerhouse capable of absolutely decimating enemies in COD Vanguard. However, while it packs serious damage and firepower, it succumbs to the same drawbacks of other LMGs in having poor mobility. Regardless, the MG42 is still one of the best LMGs to use in the game.
- Type 11
The Type 11 LMG was released in COD Vanguard at launch. While there isn't much information available, we suspect that the Type 11 will be a viable LMG to use in the game. Don't believe us? Take a look at the in-game footage above and see for yourself.
The Bren was also released at launch and boasts exceptionally high damage and accuracy. Interestingly, it's got easier handling than the MG42; however, it has a low rate of fire, poor mobility and inferior recoil control. Without the right attachments, the Bren will feel extraordinarily clunky and challenging to use, which is why it is in our C-tier list of LMGs to use at the start of COD Vanguard.
Since COD Vanguard only recently launched, we feel like giving all ranked weapons on this list a fighting chance. Therefore, we have not demoted any of the assault rifles to the "trash tier" yet - also, there are only four LMGs available to use in the game.
So there you have it, our complete tier list for all ARs at the start of COD Vanguard. Do you disagree with our list? We don't care. To be even more disappointed, check out our other tier lists in our dedicated section.
