"Crash Of Duty" Modern Warfare 2 Launch Not Off To Great Start

Infinity Ward’s most anticipated game of 2022, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has been having one hell of a terrible launch after players repeatedly encountered crashes while loading up and playing the game. With Modern Warfare 2 initially debuting last 28th October 2022, players that have hopped into the action have faced multiple crashes due to various technical issues.

Some notable individuals like Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop reported that these crashes were so frequent and severe that he could only play one game every hour. In light of these issues, Infinity Ward and Beenox have announced that they’d be investigating the crashes and fixing the technical problems. However, few reasons regarding the cause of the crashes have been pinpointed thus far; the development teams are still trying to crack down on these technical issues.

Seeing Modern Warfare 2 face such a rocky start is immensely disappointing. Although some players reckoned it would’ve happened anyway, especially knowing that game debuts never really go as planned, most of the community wanted to play Modern Warfare 2 without trouble.

For the most part, the crashes have been the cause of supposedly many things. The title has put players through frustration and disappointment, from issues with pre-installing the game to the client abruptly crashing and even Nvidia’s latest driver making Modern Warfare 2 unplayable.

On 28th October 2022, Infinity Ward initially Tweeted that it was “aware of some players experiencing crashes when partied up.” The company stated it’d investigate these issues but followed up with another Tweet on 29th October 2022, revealing that it’d be deploying mitigation for “party-related crashes tomorrow morning.”

Infinity Ward is yet to reveal some of the causes behind the party-related crashes and some other technical issues players are encountering. However, Beenox, the development group responsible for Modern Warfare 2’s PC platform, noted a separate case regarding Nvidia drivers causing some of the crashes players were experiencing.

Infinity Ward and Beenox are investigating and working on fixing the game's technical issues.

On 27th October 2022, Beenox said, “We've noticed some stability issues with the latest Nvidia drivers 526.47 on Call of Duty MWII. For now, we'd suggest you keep the 516.59 or 522.25 drivers.” As reported by PC Gamer, a representative for Nvidia commented on the issue regarding its drivers not performing as intended for Modern Warfare 2 players.

Nvidia noted, "There is a bug filed for this game, and we are working on a hotfix. This is specifically why our latest Game Ready Driver wasn't promoted or recommended for this title in the first place."

So far, these are only a few of the technical issues Infinity Ward and other development teams working on Modern Warfare 2 are fixing. As a result, it will likely take some time before the game becomes playable for everyone across every platform. Until then, stay tuned for more information about “Crash of Duty” Modern Warfare 2 finally getting fixed.
