The official release date for Modern Warfare 2 is the 28th of October, 2022. Compared to previous entries in the Call of Duty franchise, October is an unusual month considering nearly all of them are released in early November. However, Modern Warfare 2019 was also released in late October, and Infinity Ward plans to keep the same themes going in this rebooted series.
Task Force 141 revealed along with Modern Warfare 2 release date

It was only a couple of weeks ago that the official logo was revealed for Modern Warfare 2, and fans expected the full release date to follow soon after. Technically, this new Call of Duty is titled Modern Warfare II, which separates it from having the exact same name as the original game.
So far, the game has followed the trend of matching the respective them set back in the original releases, and the colors from the teaser matched that. But with the latest reveal, we also got a sneak peek at Task Force 141.

There was no trailer released today, but there was a short clip of shipping containers that contained character banners on the side. With each banner reveal, their character voice chimed in and answered Captain Price.
Characters that were revealed include John "Soap" MacTavish, Simon "Ghost" Riley, Captain John Price, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, and Alejandro Vargas. Only two of these names truly appeared in the story of Modern Warfare in 2019.

Ghost technically appeared in Modern Warfare 2019, but only through subsequent seasons that were introduced in the multiplayer content of the game. He joined as an operator, but this will be his first major role within the rebooted Call of Duty franchise.
Alejandro Vargas and Soap are the two largest character reveals for Modern Warfare 2, especially because they haven't been mentioned much at all. In the original Modern Warfare, Soap is one of the main playable characters tied to the SAS. Within the 2019 game, it was Gaz that players took control of rather than Soap.
Aside from these key players, we all expected Captain Price to make a return as well, and his iconic look appears to be a focal point for Modern Warfare 2. Now that the release date is revealed as well, more news is sure to drop soon.
